A thin film of residue clings to the skin where the soap evaporates too fast. Not just grime; something thicker, a memory trapped in cellulose.

The rhythmic thud of the industrial dryer behind glass is an off-beat pulse. A stutter in the dark. Each cycle spits out a garment, slightly warmer, marginally less soiled, but fundamentally the same texture remains—the cheap, starched weave catching the light wrong.
